IMPROVING AVATAR ist eine dadaistische Fortsetzung von James Camerons Avatar; eine Reflexion über kulturellen Imperialismus und den Einfluss der Hollywood-Filmproduktion auf unser Leben. In dem Video begegnen wir den beiden Puppen J und N, die mit dem Leben in der Puppenwelt hadern. In sieben kurzen Episoden fordern sie gängige Text‑, Bild- und Rollenklischees der Filmwelt heraus, verhandeln die Unwägbarkeiten ihres (Puppen-)Lebens und versuchen, sich gegenseitig zu trösten.
IMPROVING AVATAR is a dadaistic sequel to James Cameron’s Avatar; a reflection on cultural imperialism and the influence of Hollywood film production on our lives. In the video, we find the two puppets J and N struggling with life in the puppet world. In seven short episodes they challenge common text‑, image- and role clichés of the film world, negotiate the imponderables of their (puppet-)lives and try to comfort each other.
