2020, three-part installation. Light fixture 60 x 40 cm, potato bag + yoga belts, video TAKE CARE OF YOUR HANDS (5:14 min, voice: Alex Nada). Part of “Seilakt III-VI: On a Razor’s Edge”, Museum der bildenden Künste (MdbK) Leipzig. Realised with the help of a Denkzeit scholarship from the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen (KdFS).
TRIPLE PACK handelt von der menschlichen Sehnsucht nach einem Zustand der Erleuchtung und dem steinigen Weg dorthin, auf dem kontemplative Momente immer wieder durch weltliche Einflüsse gestört werden. Der Titel kontrastiert die “Heilige Dreifaltigkeit” und verweist auf menschliches Begehren, das die Grundlage für immer mehr und neue Waren, Dienstleistungen und Produktversprechen bildet.
TRIPLE PACK deals with the human longing for a state of enlightenment and the rocky road to it, on which contemplative moments are repeatedly disturbed by worldly influences. The title contrasts the “Holy Trinity” and refers to human desire, which forms the basis for ever more and new goods, services and product promises.
Das Selbstporträt TAKE CARE OF YOUR HANDS (deutsch etwa „Achten Sie auf Ihre Hände“) wurde inspiriert von dem Gemälde “Der Sterbende“ von Lucas Cranach. Das Video inszeniert einen fiktiven Dialog zwischen den Fingern einer Hand, die als verschiedene Monster dargestellt werden. Zwischen TV-Show, Selbsthilfegruppe und Beicht-Szenario verhandeln sie die Themen nachhaltige Lebensweise, Konsum und Selbstoptimierung sowie die daraus resultierenden widersprüchlichen Gefühle. Im Video mischen sich gefundene Textbeiträge aus Internetforen mit persönlichen Gedanken der Künstlerin zu einem digitalen Selbstporträt, das über die eigene Person hinausweist.
The self-portrait TAKE CARE OF YOUR HANDS was inspired by the painting “The Dying Man” by Lucas Cranach. The video stages a fictional dialogue between the fingers of a hand, which are portrayed as different monsters. Between TV show, self-help group and confessional scenario, they negotiate the topics of sustainable living, consumption and self-optimisation as well as the resulting contradictory feelings. In the video, found text contributions from internet forums mix with the artist’s personal thoughts to form a digital self-portrait that points beyond the artist’s own person.
